BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Cordish Companies and AnderCorp are responsible for constructing the more than $270 million Live! Casino &amp; Hotel Louisiana project. They are now looking to hire Shreveport-Bossier contractors through an outreach job fair.
“The job itself is the transformation of the Diamond Jacks facility to Louisiana Live which is inclusive of huge gaming and entertainment space, as well as restaurants and retail, so it’s going to be a fantastic development that we’re very proud to be the partner to,” said Hunter Lipscomb, director of corporate strategy for AnderCorp.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 13, marking the start of construction.
As the project looks to hire 750 construction workers and 750 full-time positions, the partners hope to network with and prequalify local Women, Minority, and veteran-owned subcontractors and suppliers.
One small business owner says he is grateful for the opportunity.
“It’s very important we get a piece of the pie and we’re able to you know at least introduce ourselves so it’s, I think that everybody, anybody with a small business should be here you know just to network,” said Dale Lynch with his business The Sound Doctor.
Jobs will be available in every area, from hotel operation to marketing. The casino and hotel will have more than a thousand slots and table games, 550 hotel rooms, a 25,000 square foot multi-purpose event center, and a 30,000 square foot area for dining and entertainment.
“We want to make sure that no stone goes unturned in finding those corporate partners and companies and individuals that might can make a real impact on this construction site as we go through the construction process,” said Lipscomb.
The job fair was held at the Job Site Ballroom, 711 Live Casino Boulevard, on Thursday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
They invited all qualified local suppliers and contractors to visit and learn more about open positions as they proceed with the construction project’s next steps.
