    French specialty gas maker Air Liquide signs $2.9 bn deal to acquire DIG Airgas from Macquarie

    Air Liquide SA has agreed to buy South Korea’s DIG Airgas Co. from Macquarie Asset Management for just over 4 trillion won ($2.9 billion), marking the French gas giant’s return to the Korean market after a decade. The deal followed a competitive auction in which Air Liquide outbid Brookfield Asset Management and Stonepeak, with JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs advising the sale. Negotiations settled on a price below Macquarie’s initial ask, amid falling demand from key Korean clients and a weak petrochemical cycle.
