Every year at Seatrade Cruise Global, Meyer Werft presents new cruise ship prototypes that give us a glimpse at what cruises could look like in the future. Prototypes in the past have included massive 430,000 gross tons ships to unique designs that you have to see to believe. At Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 in Miami earlier this month, the shipyard continued their tradition of unveiling new ship prototypes with two new projects, Project Serenity and Project Ulyssia. Project Serenity is a futuristic ship prototype for the year 2100. It’s a ship with a target group of active people over 80 years old. It’s intended for people who live independently in apartments, with also assisted living facilities being offered. Short runways on board and adapted corridor widths, which allow for social interaction and generally facilitate passenger flow and orientation on board, are additional features of the ship. Here is a look at the specs for Project Serenity. Project Ulyssia is a new mega yacht that could define ultra-luxury cruises. The floating deck at the aft the ship is similar to what Blue World Voyages proposed a few years ago for their ship that never came to fruition. It created a bay for swimming and also easy access to jet skis and other water equipment. It is important to remember that these cruise ships are unlikely to ever be built. However, specific designs on them could be used on future ships built by the shipyard.
