Eastern Iowa Airport logs seventh straight record month for passengers in July

The Eastern Iowa Airport recorded its seventh consecutive month of record passenger traffic in July, with a 6% increase compared to July 2024. Year-to-date passenger traffic is up 9% from the same period last year. Airport Director Marty Lenss attributed the growth to increased demand from airlines and travelers, noting that strong passenger numbers indicate the airport is a viable location for adding flight capacity and exploring new routes. American Airlines plans to resume a seasonal Saturday-only flight from Cedar Rapids to Miami on November 8 and add a third daily nonstop to Phoenix in December. Additional special flights are scheduled for University of Iowa football games, including a nonstop to Philadelphia for the Penn State game on October 18, a flight to Oregon on November 8, and one to Michigan State on November 22. Delta Air Lines has also added flights for these events. The airport currently offers nonstop service to 18 destinations via Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, and United Airlines, and is served by FedEx, DHL, and UPS for air cargo.
