    Sensex, Nifty trade lower; pharma shares climb for 2nd day

    The S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 indices declined slightly in mid-afternoon trading, with the Sensex falling 0.23% to 80,420.40 and the Nifty 50 dropping 0.15% to 24,546.80. Pharma shares advanced for the second consecutive session, with the Nifty Pharma index rising 0.96% to 21,811.35. Key pharma gainers included Alkem Laboratories, Granules India, Biocon, Ipca Laboratories, and Abbott India. Abbott India reported an 11.53% increase in standalone net profit to Rs 365.86 crore in Q1 FY26, driven by an 11.60% rise in revenue. Kirloskar Industries and Praj Industries reported declines in net profit, with Kirloskar's falling 1.73% and Praj's dropping 93.7% in Q1 FY26. The 10-year Indian government bond yield rose to 6.464%, while the rupee strengthened to 87.6300 against the dollar. Brent crude fell to $66.57 per barrel.
