Hershey-based Batricity, an energy storage solutions developer, has joined the Zinc Battery Initiative, which promotes zinc battery technologies. Batricity, which develops battery cabinets and containers designed to provide integrated, turnkey energy storage solutions, said it complements the leading zinc battery developers and suppliers that comprise ZBI’s membership. Batricity said it has developed systems equipped to manage between 30-Kilowatt and 5-Megawatt capacity in both indoor and outdoor settings, in addition to custom modular solutions and 10- to 40-foot containerized systems. The company said it primarily focuses on behind-the-meter, electric vehicle charging, commercial and industrial applications, and small utility scale projects. “We are pleased to join the Zinc Battery Initiative, as we look to partner with diverse battery technologies, and help bring these exciting solutions to market,” said Batricity CEO Trais Eckert. “Zinc batteries offer excellent supply chain resilience, safety, sustainability, low-cost and high performance, and we anticipate a bright future working with the many zinc battery chemistries.” The addition of a technology-neutral battery system integrator marks a significant turning point for ZBI, which is attracting interest beyond the zinc industry, it said. During the past ten months, zinc battery developers have announced plans to build or expand factories in addition to receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for energy storage projects. “We are thrilled to welcome Batricity and add an innovative system integrator to our membership. ZBI is expanding to include like-minded partners recognizing the inherent advantages of zinc battery technology, proven technology increasingly recognized by both governments and private investors,” said Josef Daniel-Ivad, head of the Zinc Battery Initiative. Batricity is the 20th company to join the Zinc Battery Initiative, which promotes zinc battery technologies through its work with the Department of Energy, networking, education campaigns, and media affairs.
