By Saturday morning, Con Edison reported that power had been restored for more than 19,700 residents, with outstanding outages expected to be restored by later in the day. \"The priority for restoration will be critical customer facilities that have an impact on the public, such as mass transit, hospitals, police and fire stations, and sewage and water-pumping stations,\" read a statement from the power company. \"Crews will then prioritize repairs that will provide power to the largest numbers of customers as quickly as possible, then move on to restore smaller groups and individual customers.\" Brief but swept through the tri-state area on Friday, bringing down trees and electrical wires throughout the five boroughs and New Jersey.
