Bayer has raised its full-year sales and earnings forecast, buoyed by robust performance in its pharmaceutical division.

However, the pharmaceutical and agrochemical giant also announced on Thursday that it will set aside an additional €1.7 billion in provisions for ongoing legal disputes in the United States.

For 2025, the Leverkusen-based company now anticipates currency-adjusted sales of €46 to €48 billion, up from its previous estimate of €45 to €47 billion. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), excluding special items, are expected to reach between €9.7 and €10.2 billion, compared to the earlier forecast of €9.5 to €10.0 billion.

According to preliminary calculations, Bayer's revenues in the second quarter stood at approximately €10.7 billion, with adjusted EBITDA at around €2.1 billion. The company plans to release its final figures on August 6.

Of the new provisions, around €1.2 billion are allocated to lawsuits related to the weedkiller glyphosate, while €530 million are tied to cases involving the chemical PCB, according to the company's statement. Bayer cited an unfavorable appellate court ruling in a glyphosate case as a key reason for the increased legal provisions.
