One poster questioned the need for another eatery due to others being located at nearby Asda, Queens Road, Bermuda Park and also on the nearby A5. Another responded that the land, which is based, could be 'put to better use'. Prior to officially submitting the planning application for the land that sits between Buildbase and the former ATS Euromaster site off Weddington Road, McDonald's held consultation within the local community. Now, as part of the planning process, more consultation is held and comments can be made on the proposals before a final decision is made.\n\nIn the application, McDonald's explains that the new business would bring an economic boost to the area as well as creating jobs. It also addresses the fact it would be the fourth in the Nuneaton area. \"The proposed drive-thru is intended to serve communities to the north of Nuneaton, including the new Sustainable Urban Extension for 1,700 new homes at Top Farm in Weddington, as well as the passing trade coming in and out of Nuneaton from the nearby A5,\" the application states. \"Additionally, it is anticipated that customers of nearby Aldi are likely to generate some business and use the drive-thru facility. Furthermore, it is considered that the employees of the commercial uses in the area will also benefit from an additional food and beverage option in the locality to serve their needs.\"\n\n\"It should be noted that those residing in central Nuneaton will be served by McDonald’s located on Newtown Road and Queens Road, however, these restaurants do not provide a drive-thru facility. Additionally, communities based in southern Nuneaton will be served by McDonald’s drive-thru in Bermuda Park.\"\n\nThe proposal is currently being looked at by planning officers at the Town Hall. The planning website states that the target decision date is August 19.
