Advertisement Article continues below this ad First Selectman Vicki Tesoro also celebrated the renovation news. \"We are pleased to see the location remain as a full-service hotel,\" Tesoro said in an emailed statement. \"It is a great asset to the region.\" The property at 180 Hawley Lane by New Jersey-based IH Trumbull LLC, owned by Harnish Patel. Patel runs Infinity Hotels, a hotel development and management company. \"As a part of the sale, they are required to do a renovation of the hotel, which will upgrade the property and the experience guests have when visiting,\" Tesoro said.\" I will be meeting with the new general manager next week to welcome him to Trumbull and to support their business growth.\" Advertisement Article continues below this ad Bakalar said the hotel is now a franchise and was sold to the private hotel company for less than the town had it valued at. \"It’s my sense that that renovation will be millions and that will create good value for the property into the future,\" Bakalar said. In 2023, the property was assessed at $7,923,230 and appraised at $11,318,900. Bakalar said the hotel is \"tired\" given that the last renovation was in 2012, which she said is a long hiatus in the hospitality industry. Advertisement Article continues below this ad Bakalar said the the five-story, 319-room hotel will be co-branded with the Marriott International's Element Hotels, focused on extended stays and eco-friendly designs with features centered on sustainability, according to the Element Hotels website. \"A portion of the rooms will be Element rooms, and another portion will be renovated as regular Marriott rooms,\" she said. \"It’s a whole renovation and refresh that’s coming to that property, and I think it’s very, very positive.\" She said maintaining it is crucial because it's the only hotel in town. \"I think it’s an important asset in our town because it is one of those venues where there’s not that many places where you can hold a large event,\" she said. Advertisement Article continues below this ad Bakalar said she hopes the renovation attracts more visitors to Trumbull and that the hotel is heavily utilized by residents. \"It’s good for economic development in that it brings people into town, those people stay at the hotel but they might also be out at our restaurants,\" she said. \"It also brings people to town for conventions, and they do weddings, and that puts other vendors to work. It’s very good for the town.\" Hotel management did not respond to a request for comment.
