Tiny acquires HappyFunCorp, the prolific firm that’s built apps for Twitter, Amazon and more, for $30M

Canadian tech company Tiny has acquired HappyFunCorp, a product engineering firm that has developed apps for major tech companies including Apple, Disney, Amazon, and Twitter, in a $30 million deal involving a mix of shares and cash. The acquisition allows Tiny to expand its portfolio of product and engineering services, with HappyFunCorp continuing to operate independently from its headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. The deal highlights a broader trend of consolidation in the tech industry as companies seek cost efficiency and strategic growth amid market pressures. Key executives from HappyFunCorp, including co-founders Ben Schippers and Holly Zappa, will remain on board post-acquisition. Additionally, a spin-out of TezLab, a Tesla-related app incubated at HappyFunCorp, will operate independently. Tiny, which is publicly traded in Canada and has a market cap of around $500 million, has previously acquired companies such as WeCommerce, Dribbble, and Flow. The acquisition underscores the growing role of specialized product engineering firms in supporting major tech companies, especially as they reduce internal development costs and shift toward near-shore R&D in regions like Costa Rica and Latin America.
