Chris Pratt has signed to voice Garfield in Alcon Entertainment’s animated theatrical sequel to last year’s The Garfield Movie, based on the iconic comic strip Garfield with Sony Pictures distributing. Producers are in talks with potential writers and directors and additional casting will be announced shortly. Mark Dindal directed The Garfield Movie, whose voice cast also included Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Winningham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Snoop Dogg and others. The Garfield Movie was released in May 2024 and grossed more than $260 million worldwide. Sony Pictures distributed the animated film globally, excluding China. Alcon acquired the rights from Jim Davis, the creator of the Garfield comic strip and brand, who will serve as an executive producer on the sequel with Bridget McMeel from Amuse.
