Police handled 818 calls for service during the month, including 30 traffic accident investigations. Police issued 87 traffic citations and 120 traffic warnings.\n\nTheft\nOn July 15 at 4:32 p.m., police responded to the Kohl’s Department Store for a retail theft in progress. A man was seen removing security tags from clothing items and exiting the store. Through investigation, a 29-year-old man was located in the parking lot of the Barn Plaza with stolen clothing. The man was taken into custody. He was processed for the retail theft charges and released. On July 25 at 5:51 p.m., police responded to the AT&T store for a retail theft that had occurred involving a stolen display phone valued at $849.99. The female suspect had since left the store, and officers were unable to locate her. At 7:50 p.m., police located a woman matching the description provided by the AT&T employees. Through investigation, the 40-year-old woman was found in possession of the stolen display phone and was taken into custody for retail theft-related charges. The woman was arraigned on the retail theft charges and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. On July 28 at 12:33 p.m., police responded to the Weis Market for a retail theft in progress. Through investigation, a 27-year-old woman was identified and taken into custody with $248.43 in stolen merchandise. The woman was arraigned for retail theft related charges and unsecured bail was set. The woman was released from custody.\n\nFraud\nDuring July, there were eight fraud investigations. Remember that no legitimate organization will ask for payment through gift cards or Bitcoin deposits. Residents are also advised to use extreme caution when taking phone calls from those identifying themselves as computer representatives with an offer to help with computer viruses.\n\nDriving Under the Influence\nOn July 13 at 3:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Lower State Road and Almshouse Road for a report of a single-vehicle traffic accident with injuries. At their arrival, the 39-year-old male driver displayed signs of being intoxicated. Through investigation, the male operator was transported to Doylestown Hospital for treatment and DUI-related charges were filed via summons. On July 12, a 33-year-old man was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed northbound on the 611 bypass near the State Street entrance. A traffic stop was conducted and through investigation, the male driver was taken into custody for DUI and charges were filed via summons.
