    Verizon Hooks Up With AST SpaceMobile For Space-Based Cell Coverage

    Verizon has committed $100 million to satellite operator AST SpaceMobile as part of a partnership to deploy a space‑based cellular network, potentially challenging Starlink. The deal will extend Verizon’s coverage into hard‑to‑reach U.S. areas, while AST plans to launch 45‑60 satellites by the end of next year. AT&T also has a similar arrangement with AST, and other players such as Starlink, Globalstar and Apple are involved in the evolving space‑cell market.
