Gothamist LLC was the leading network of city websites that focused on news, events, food, culture, and other local coverage. It operated from 2003 to 2018 and was founded by Jake Dobkin and Jen Chung. The company owned and operated websites such as Gothamist.com, Chicagoist.com, DCist.com, LAist.com, and SFist.com. In 2017, the websites were temporarily shut down after the newsroom staff voted to unionize. In 2018, New York Public Radio, KPCC, and WAMU acquired Gothamist, LAist, and DCist respectively.
