Congratulations once again to the winners of the Longitude Prize on AMR, Sysmex Astrego AB , with its PA-100 AST System. It was great to celebrate such a game-changing development in modern medicine with our expert panel including Dr. Chris Butler, Dr. Abdul Ghafur and patient advocate and campaigner, Sarah Heaton. Her insight into life with a chronic UTI was particularly poignant in understanding how point-of-care rapid diagnostics will change the current landscape and, indeed, many lives. Prescribing the right antibiotic first time significantly reduces patient suffering and, as Sarah noted from her personal experience, would have saved her a lifetime of pain.
