It is involved in the provision of liquefied natural gas, methanol, and coal and other chemicals; conversion and utilization of biomass; agricultural waste; and operation of natural gas refilling stations, piped city-gas projects, upstream and midstream developments, photovoltaic projects, water and wastewater treatment projects, energy exploration and utilization ventures, and aviation fuel facilities. The company supplies town gas to approximately 1.9 million customers. It also provides network connectivity, and data center and cloud computing services; and engages in the software development, solution implementation, and systems integration activities. In addition, the company offers consultancy and engineering contractor services, including utilities installation, infrastructure construction, and civil and building services engineering for public and private projects; and designs and manufactures gas meters and metering systems. Further, it is involved in water supply, and domestic sewage and industrial wastewater treatment serving 2.4 million customers. Additionally, the company manufactures polyethylene piping and fittings; and engages in the customers center, café, restaurant, retail sale, laundry, automatic meter reading system development, laboratory testing, payment gateway and related, project management, landfill gas project, financing, logistics, oil, research and development, property development, and securities investment activities. [Receiving Recognition for Enhancing HQ Accessibility and Creating Inclusive Workplace] Active in promoting an inclusive culture, Towngas has been continuously enhancing accessibility to its headquarters. We are delighted that our dedication has been highlighted with the Special Recognition Award and Gold Award in the Equal Opportunities Commission’s (EOC) Universal Design Award Scheme 2024/25. We have continuously enhanced the universal design features of our headquarters to increase accessibility. Following a complete renovation of the lobby in 2023, a wheelchair lift has been installed, along with new automatic doors, and wider gates to optimise the entire route, enabling wheelchair users among staff and visitors to access the building barrier-free. The building’s washrooms have undergone renovation, with accessible facilities on every floor meeting the latest design standards. Smart management systems have also been introduced – besides monitoring air quality, sensors have been installed to ensure users’ safety. Beyond hardware improvements, it is also important to create an inclusive work environment and a range of support for our colleagues. Our buddy system pairs every new employee with disabilities with a mentor from the same department to help them integrate into the Company more quickly. [Welcoming the 2024 Cohort of Towngas Group Management Trainees] We are thrilled to introduce our new Group Management Trainee (MT) cohort for 2024, featuring 17 talented individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Towngas Group MT Programme has just kicked off, and our MTs have successfully completed their 2-month orientation. They are now ready to embark on their first rotations in both Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. During orientation, leaders from different business areas connected with the MTs and offered valuable insights about their teams. The trainees also explored basic gas engineering, took part in an unforgettable team-building experience, and honed essential soft skills such as project management and data visualisation. Along this journey, we were excited to meet Mr. Lam Ming Wing, our Head of Group Human Resources / Head of Group Safety & Environment, who shared his valuable experience from his extensive career at Towngas and his vision for the MTs’ development. [Nurturing Journalism Talent and Raising ESG Awareness Through Scholarship] At Towngas, we strive to support the next generation in multiple ways. With a focus on enhancing students’ understanding of ESG, Towngas has collaborated with the School of Communication at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong to introduce the first ESG Scholarship Programme. This initiative encourages students to become familiar with ESG concepts and to stay engaged with these topics as they pursue careers in journalism and communication. This year’s submissions cover a wide range of topics, demonstrating comprehensive and content-rich reports that reflect the growing news acumen of Hong Kong's new generation. In light of these impressive efforts, we congratulate a total of 17 students from 5 teams. Each winning team will be awarded a scholarship of HK$10,000. Winners of the Print Category: - Three Little Bees: This project explores the declining bee population in Hong Kong, introduces the “Save Local Bees Conservation Programme”, and emphasises bringing bees back to nature as part of corporate ESG responsibility. - Green Town: This initiative analyses the establishment of green Grade A office space in Cheung Sha Wan, revitalising the industrial area, and points out that ESG-certified properties not only reduce building energy consumption, but also help construct sustainable communities. [Nurturing Talent in the Gas Industry with 29 Graduates of Professional Diploma in Gas Engineering] Towngas is dedicated to nurturing talent in the gas sector. In collaboration with the Vocational Training Council , we proudly launched Hong Kong's first Professional Diploma in Gas Engineering programme. This year, we celebrate the graduation of 29 students, bringing fresh energy into the industry. The programme offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical and practical training, achieving Qualifications Framework Level 4. With eight key modules—including Gas Engineering Technology, Gas Production System, Gas Transmission and Distribution, Gas Utilisation and System Design, Engineering Management and Professionalism, Smart Energy and Application, Energy and Environment, and Safety and Health — students learn from industry professionals and gain hands-on experience through internships at the Towngas Training Institute. Towngas offers scholarships of HK$15,000 each to students who achieve outstanding academic performance and conduct, and students can also benefit from the Vplus Subsidy Scheme, which reimburses 60% of tuition fees. As we enter the third cohort, we have integrated smart energy and applications in the programme, allowing students to learn hydrogen energy and renewable energy. With eight experienced Towngas engineers serving as part-time lecturers alongside VTC’s senior instructors, the course content is now more diverse and enriching.
