Residential air conditioning is becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. Three billion new residential air conditioning units will be purchased and installed throughout the world by 2050. India and China will account for the majority of this global expansion.  Using a novel desiccant material developed at MIT, Transaera is developing an ultra-efficient air conditioning system that will bring comfort to billions of people while reducing the impact on climate and grid infrastructure.

It was a great eclipse day for everyone, but especially for Transaera employees 🌑 🌝  We decided to call it a company holiday yesterday, giving our team a day to enjoy the cosmic wonders of the universe before we dive head first into the hottest months of the year.

We have a very busy summer ahead of us - one that we anticipate will be very hot, very humid, and prime conditions to motivate us to create a better and more efficient cooling solution with a reduced carbon footprint.

Yesterday, we got to attend the Clean Energy Business and Innovation Week in Washington DC with our friends at Elemental Excelerator. We met with government agencies and potential partners who can help us develop our product and expand accessibility to the people who need it most. It's always a great opportunity to meet folks from like-minded climate-tech companies and our government partners working to solve complex and important problems.

We are very proud to be a member of the Greentown Labs community and thank their new CEO Kevin Knobloch for highlighting Transaera as one of the many "visionary, courageous entrepreneurs" within this extraordinary ecosystem.

Transformative technologies in a century-old industry like Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) don't come very often. But there's a new horizon in HVAC: the concept of separating cooling from dehumidifying.  It will not only reduce energy consumption dramatically but also increase comfort by delivering cool, dry air.  

And yet another important benefit is that it opens up the design space to create breakthrough AC devices that can be made out of simpler materials like wood.  Imagine an AC like a piece of furniture that blends into your home decor.  This is the challenge we posed to our friends at Fresco Design and they delivered!  Take a look at this amazing design of a room AC that not only consumes 35% less energy than a conventional AC, but also looks amazingly good.   And if you're wondering whether this is just a pretty picture?... No!  This design really exists and we've shown that it can deliver on the key efficiency metric that we targeted.
