EVs are more popular than ever – EVs held a 7.6% share of the US auto market in 2023, up from 5.9% in 2022, according to data from Kelley Blue Book. Most people know there are significant tax incentives for purchasing a new EV, but used EV buyers can also benefit from the Federal Used Clean Vehicle Tax.

In 2023, Carvana sold 57 different EV makes and models, up 29% year over year. According to J.D. Power’s 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study, the percentage of consumers who say they are “overall likely” to consider purchasing an EV has steadily increased year over year, currently standing at 61%.

As 2024 kicks off, let’s look at the fun we had in 2023!

Being a Force for Good

Carvana Cares, our initiative to spotlight employee and community passion projects, helps us give back to the people who make Carvana, Carvana. From Dining in the Dark with the Arizona chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness to helping the wonderful folks at Chicken N Pickle host a mobility awareness clinic, we were lucky enough to meet and help a lot of amazing people this year. When Veteran’s Day rolled around, we showed our love by expanding on our Service for Your Service initiative that debuted in 2022, helping 50 vets get some much-needed car repairs with the help of our partners at We Fix It Auto Repair. 

To celebrate the Haulerdays as the year drew to a close, we partnered with Open Hand Atlanta, an organization that supports households by helping put food on the table (along with offering a suite of other community aid services). We gave cars to Open Hand volunteers who go above and beyond for their communities, helping get to their clients more easily as part of our efforts to bring awareness to and combat the transportation gap. 

Collaborating With Our Partners

We’re fortunate to have incredible partners across various industries. We had a ton of fun working with our longtime partner Phoenix Rising Football Club, giving away 750 tickets and over 250 jerseys throughout their season. Then, we made our way down to Daytona Beach, teaming up with racing legend Jimmie Johnson at the Daytona 500. 

We didn’t just put pedal to metal – we also put paddle to ball, partnering with the PPA Tour as their title sponsor and working with athlete Anna Leigh Waters to celebrate her work off and on the court.

But why stop at one sport? We decided to try on triathlete for size, collaborating with NRG Esports team and freeride mountain bike athlete Jaxon Riddle to show out for esports and extreme sports alike. Our athletic endeavors don’t stop there – we also just announced a partnership with the Chicago Fire FC that we couldn’t be more excited about!

The Carvana Team 

None of this work would be possible without our employees. This year, we threw our 8th annual Carvanafest in New York, welcoming over 30 employees and 250 customers for a day filled with grilling, entertainment, and good times. Our teams pitched 55 projects during our annual hackathon, contributing their voices and capabilities to future company initiatives.

Over the course of the year, we nominated 353 employees for internal awards and recognition for their outstanding work putting our customers first. At the end of the year, hundreds of employees attended SPARK, our company conference, to learn more about our plans to make 2024 even better. 

Oh yeah – we also turned 10, so that’s cool. Here’s to doing even more in 2024!
