Meet Sakhe, an early careers graduate and HR generalist at bp in South Africa. 👋

In her own words, she has been with bp for exactly “three years, nine months and 23 days.” 😉

Sakhe was drawn initially to bp due to its size and scale. “I felt the early careers program could assist me in gaining the skills and exposure to be a great HR professional,” she says. “I was also attracted to the values and company culture.” 💛💚

Since joining, Sakhe’s been slowly moving out of her comfort zone. “I was very shy and afraid of public speaking at first,” she admits. “But I am more confident now thanks to managers helping me gain experience presenting to increasingly large teams!” 📣

So what are her career ambitions? “I am happy being a generalist, but the next milestone is to gain managerial experience through direct reports, so I can eventually become a people leader,” she says. 🧑💼

Why should students and recent graduates consider bp? “The culture of the business promotes care for others, and I believe most people want to be in an environment where they feel cared for,” she says. 🙏

Our Gelsenkirchen refinery in Germany has successfully completed its turnaround 🏭 

All systems at the Horst refinery site were shut down to undergo thorough testing, with over 10,500 components reviewed ✅

Since 1929, the Gelsenkirchen refinery has been providing mobility and heat and producing petrochemical raw materials for everyday products.
