Mission Statement

The County Office of Education will provide leadership into the 21st century through quality service, to school districts, students, parents and community, while promoting educational excellence for all learners through the following means:

    * Provide leadership and advocacy support on behalf of public education
    * Develop and implement student programs, as requested by school districts or in response to community needs.
    * Serve as an intermediate educational agency between school districts and state control agencies as mandated through legislative or administrative acts

Earlier today, members of the El Dorado County Commission for Youth and Families presented a shared leadership learning session at the Breaking Barriers 2024 Symposium in Sacramento! The El Dorado Commission for Youth and Families aims to improve outcomes for youth and families by providing coherent and effective support within the county. During the session, commissioners spoke about using a collaborative leadership approach to break down systemic barriers by bringing together community voices to make decisions and plan strategically, which has helped to align systems and better serve youth and families of the county. The commissioners walked attendees through the processes and outcomes of their shared leadership and engagement model, demonstrating how working together can lead to innovative problem-solving and how they’ve built the groundwork for sustainable systems change. El Dorado County Youth Commissioners stepped into the spotlight during the Annual Board of Supervisors Shadow Day! ✨ At this year’s Shadow Day, youth commissioners sat alongside their district leaders and shared their desire to create meaningful change and advocate for their peers. The day was also marked by a touching tribute to District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl, a beloved public servant known for his dedication to the community, who passed away earlier this month. The Youth Commission works closely with county officials, assisting in community initiatives and helping youth connect with available resources.
