The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is a non-profit organization that serves as a self-regulatory body for member brokerage firms and exchange markets. It is authorized by the U.S. Congress to protect American investors by making sure the broker-dealer industry operates fairly and honestly. FINRA oversees various aspects of the securities industry, including registration and education of licensed individuals, examining brokerage firms for compliance, and arbitrating disputes between investors and brokers.
