I was so happy to co-present on this topic alongside the wonderful Jennifer Gibbs, MSW at the recent Points of Light conference. Friends at The Research Alliance for New York City Schools released an outstanding report deepening our understanding of NYC CTE schools and contexts impacting students. 👁️🗨️ #CTE #nycschools #pathways "This report is the second in a series from the Research Alliance examining Career and Technical Education (CTE) in New York City. The first report focused on CTE-Dedicated high schools in which all enrolled students participate in a CTE program. This new report focuses on 51 Comprehensive high schools that offer CTE alongside other educational options. In this context, students are assigned to CTE programs as part of their high school applications, but they may opt in and out of CTE coursework and other learning opportunities at any point during their high school years." https://lnkd.in/enbcmFMg

We see ODIS being transformative for anyone interested in impact work around school communities because it provides data on 5 areas of school community barriers and challenges (economic, education, health, housing, and crime) all in one location. While other tools like ODIS exist, it is the first of its kind to aggregate and summarize data down to the school community level, or the geographic area specific to a school’s attendance boundary (SAB).
