It was exciting to celebrate the annual Peace by Piece event on Saturday, November 16, at Central YMCA with youth from the YMCA’s leadership programs. Thanks to the immersive workshop facilitators for making this an impactful and fun learning experience. The youth enjoyed theatre, watercolors, dance and creative drawing. Last week, we gathered for a special afternoon to celebrate our outstanding employers at the annual Employer Recognition Event, a joint gathering between Mississauga, Toronto, and Etobicoke. The event, themed A Smarter Future with AI, was an inspiring afternoon filled with appreciation and community spirit. Our keynote speaker, Brendan Howe , Owner and CEO of Techify Inc., shared valuable insights into the future of AI. Ray Caruana, CCP from D&A Group Services and Mark Berko from the Ghanaian Canadian Multicultural Centre shared their stories of using our services. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the employers like 407 ETR , Toronto Kidz , BRKFREE , Lisa Simson , Howard Simson and Tino Ferraro from Allegra Marketing, who attended. All of this would not be possible without the generous funding and support from Employment Ontario Peel Region . A special thank you to Heather Berdan and Jennifer Adams for attending, and to everyone from these vibrant communities who came together to make it an unforgettable celebration!

It was a memorable day in Richmond Hill! We had our annual Employer Recognition Event, where we celebrated incredible employers who go above and beyond. Thank you to everyone who joined us, including the mayor of Richmond Hill, David West . Our keynote was provided by Anouk Malavoy from Techify. Dr.Sharifi, CEO of Lumicision Inc. , Irini Mikhael RECE, P.Eng, PMP , Chief Operating Officer at Lullaboo Nursery and Childcare Center, and Denver Hamilton , CEO of Millwright Canada Corporation, spoke about our services' impact on their organizations. We also had a lovely performance by James Wallenberg from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra . It was a time of appreciation, and we couldn’t be happier with our partners' commitment to the community. Join us as we remember and honour fallen soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the freedoms we have today. We also use this time to acknowledge the sacrifices and life-long impacts of service on soldiers who returned home and those currently serving. Lest we forget.

Child care experts from across Canada gathered in Toronto this week for the YMCA Child Care Champions — Shining Brighter conference. Dr. Stuart Shanker and Susan Hopkins discussed self-regulation and stress in early years, and Dr. John Mighton of Jump Math highlighted the importance of early math education for promoting equity. The event advanced support for children's development and offered practical strategies for educators. #YChildCareChampions
