Canon Kahenano was an exemplary leader, distinguished by his unwavering dedication, integrity, and vision. Throughout his tenure, he guided UPMB with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment. His legacy of selfless service and tireless advocacy will endure. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and the entire UPMB community. At the recently concluded AIDS 2024, 25th International AIDS Conference in Germany, we further affirmed to #PutPeopleFirst . Now see what makes #Rushere Community Hospital a unique health facility in offering patient centered care in rural #Uganda thru the OPD-HIV Clinic integrated model. We held a 5-days training for everybody in the facility on HIV care because we believe that everyone has a role to play in offering patient centered care at the facility and in the community, even the hospital farm staff have to know about the HIV care and prevention services offered at the facility. We're forever grateful to USAID through Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau and UHA for the continued support to the HIV Clinic and the facility at large...you've been instrumental as we implement the OPD-HIV Clinic integrated model. Kigezi, Uganda – [27th & 28th August 2024] – The picturesque hills of Kisoro were abuzz with excitement as healthcare leaders, practitioners, and stakeholders gathered for the much-anticipated Kigezi Regional Annual Health Sector Joint Performance Review Mission. Organized by the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital with support from USAID Uganda Health Activity, USAID Local Service Delivery for HIV/AIDS and other regional mechanisms, the assembly served as a platform to discuss pressing health issues, share innovative practices, and celebrate the outstanding achievements of healthcare facilities in the region. The Ministry of Health together with Kabale Regional Referral Hospital recognized Rugarama Hospital for its outstanding performance and exceptional commitment to providing top quality healthcare services in the region. Rugarama Hospital emerged as the best facility during the patient satisfaction survey conducted by the Ministry of Health in financial year 2023/2024. Rugarama Hospital is among the 330-member health facilities under the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau network. The facility is also a recipient of the USAID Local Service Delivery for HIV/AIDS activity grant to provide comprehensive HIV and TB services in Kigezi region.

Following discussions on the burden of NCDs during the 77th World Health Assembly with global leaders and stakeholders, I am thrilled to share a major development in our mission to advance health equity in Africa and beyond. AstraZeneca , in partnership with Ministry of Health - Uganda and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau , is expanding the Healthy Heart Africa programme to tackle the challenges presented by chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension, and other cardiovascular conditions in Uganda. Our expanded effort is designed to bolster early detection and intervention, improve healthcare provider training, and raise community awareness.
