Coming up Next…Building a low-emissions canola supply chain 🌱 We’re launching our new initiative, GrainCorp Next, to create a viable low emission grains and oilseeds supply chain. By connecting farmgate to final product, GrainCorp Next supports growers to adopt even more sustainable farming practices while incorporating renewable energy sources and other practical interventions into GrainCorp’s supply chain. Initially, the program will focus on canola - a crop that is highly integrated with our operations, from handling to seed crush and oil refining. 14 growers across NSW and VIC have joined the program this year, and they’re currently in the process of mapping their individual farm emissions with Nutrien Ag Solutions - Australia to create a baseline for their farm. 🌟 Celebrating 100 years of tallow! 🌟 We hit an agri-energy milestone recently, so to celebrate we came together with the Australian Renderers Association (ARA) to host industry leaders and customers from across the globe in Brisbane, QLD. The event was a chance to reflect on the history of this multifaceted by-product, which was first used to make candles and beauty products before its use as a feedstock for renewable fuel was realised. Today, we're the largest exporter of #tallow out of Australia and New Zealand, and we specialise in developing tallow to support the global #RenewableFuel industry and personal care sector. 🌟 Boosting local communities 🌟 This year, through our Community Grants program, we’ve been able to support 55 community groups – awarding over $450,000 to help strengthen community focused initiatives. We’ve recently announced the 29 groups that have been selected through our latest grants round, including the Walhallow Local Aboriginal Land Council in Caroona, NSW. They’ll use the funding to create an interactive animation that will preserve and share the cultural heritage of the Gamilaroi people and the Dreamtime story of Yurrandaali, pictured below. “By bringing the Yurrandaali story to life through animation, we not only safeguard our heritage but also promote cultural understanding and reconciliation across the broader community," says Council CEO Jason Allen. The GrainCorp Grants program provides financial support to organisations and projects that support positive economic, social and cultural growth, with two funding rounds held per year in February and July. GrainCorp Limited operates as an agribusiness and processing company in Australasia, Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and internationally. It operates through two segments, Agribusiness and Processing. The company handles, markets, and trades in wheat, barley, sorghum, corn, oilseeds, pulses, organics, canola, chickpeas, and specialty commodities; handles, processes, stores, and transports grains and oilseeds; refines, bleaches, deodorizes, and blends edible fats and oil products; and crushes, processes, manufactures, and distributes edible oils. It also manufactures and supplies molasses-based feed supplements and vegetable oil to enhance farm productivity in beef cattle, sheep, dairy cattle, and other domestic livestock; and crude degummed canola oils, refined bleached canola oils, and canola meal. In addition, the company provides blended and single oils, infant nutrition, bakery margarines, spreads, and shortening; crushes oilseed products are used in cooking oils, spreads and shortenings, prepared foods, meal for dairy, poultry and livestock, cosmetics and lubricants, fuels, and other industrial applications; and operates seven bulk port terminals. Further it is involved in the procurement, shipping, accreditation, and value-added supply of tallow and used cooking oil, which are used for renewable energy feedstock and industrial applications, as well as vegetable oils; and the provision of logistics services.
