There’s no excuse for violence against women – ever. 

This Saturday 25 November is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Women and children are more likely to experience violence than men, with almost one in three women globally subjected to physical and/or sexual violence at least once in their life, according to UN Women. Overwhelmingly, victims also know the perpetrator, who is more often than not, a friend or family member. 

We recognise the devastating impact family violence, and violence in any form, can have on the lives of those who experience it, including on their work and financial security. We're committed to supporting our people who are experiencing or have experienced family and domestic violence, or any form of violence, to maintain their employment and provide a workplace that promotes their safety. 

One of the ways we do this is through our updated leave policy, providing 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave to any employee impacted. We also commit to continue our work to support members under our Vulnerable Consumers Policy.

This year, our Executive team has re-signed our Family and Domestic Violence Pledge and will continue to advocate for and support any employee or member experiencing any form of abuse.
