In January, our founder, Troy Rowe was devastated to witness firsthand the discovery of Australian-origin containers of e-waste and plastics dumped in Malaysian recycling facilities with appalling environmental standards. This isn't just scrap metal—it's brass that's been meticulously recycled through our advanced processes at ReSource. After shredding, we use an Eddy current to separate ferrous from non-ferrous materials. The non-ferrous mix, known in the industry as Zorba, includes brass, copper, aluminium, and PCB boards. From there, our cutting-edge technology takes over. We sort Zorba by colour and shape, separating it into individual components. The result? Yesterday, our founder, Troy Rowe, had the privilege of speaking at the Australian Battery Manufacturing & Recycling Summit in Sydney. He joined a panel on "Managing Risk," where he brought a crucial perspective from the front lines of an operating company. Troy highlighted the pressing challenges our industry faces, emphasising the skyrocketing cost of insurance, the urgent need for enhanced fire infrastructure, and the inherent risks posed by embedded battery products—particularly lithium-ion batteries, which are a significant factor in fire risk.
