🧩 When we were founded in 2008, we recognized that access to financial services was a fundamental aspect of #poverty reduction and #economicdevelopment . Since then, we have invested in and built up a wide range of #sustainable financial institutions in developing countries—from traditional microfinance to affordable housing finance companies—and we have been able to help extend access to financial services to over 12 million people who would otherwise have been excluded.

⚡ Low-income households around the world are particularly vulnerable to shocks, but very often the least prepared when a shock hits. Having the ability to save with the right tools helps people build #resilience to fluctuations in income, meet financial goals and deal with emergencies.

💰 According to the #GlobalFindex 2021, on average, #savings are perceived to be a more reliable source of emergency funds than other sources, such as family or friends. In developing economies, 18% of adults say they would rely on savings, and over 80%  of adults who rely on savings say they could reliably access money in an emergency situation.
