An important part of early drug discovery efforts is the development of the assay toolkit that will be used to identify, validate and characterize hit compounds that can be optimized into therapeutic molecules. In Gotur et al, SLAS Discovery, 2023 (https://lnkd.in/eXPEAJGF), Accent discloses the suite of biochemical, biophysical and structural tools for DHX9 and demonstrates their utility in identifying a nucleotide analog inhibitor of the enzyme. In addition to furthering investigations into DHX9 biology, this publication also provides a framework for the development of assays for other helicases of biological interest.
