We light divas, both traditional (oil and wicks) and candles, enjoy samosas and sweets, and invite neighbours over for sparklers and goodies. I make Chai, and we read ‘Archie Celebrates Diwali’ with our daughter. We also talk to her about Bandi Chor Divas, which commemorates Guru Hargobind’s release from prison – a symbol of standing against oppression. We visit the Gurdwara for special prayers, activities and food.
