Centerbridge is excited to announce the close of the second capital raise of Martello Re, an annuity reinsurer. Centerbridge initiated a partnership with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and Barings Asset Management in 2021 to start Martello Re, and we look forward to its continued growth.

Centerbridge completed the acquisition of a $400 million consumer loan portfolio from Upstart (NASDAQ: UPST), an AI lending marketplace. The portfolio consists of consumer loans that Upstart previously held on its own balance sheet. Upstart connects millions of consumers to more than 100 banks and credit unions that leverage Upstart’s AI to approve more borrowers at lower rates, while delivering the exceptional digital-first experience that customers demand.

Last week, Johanna Meadows, Managing Director and Head of the Centerbridge Foundation, joined The City University of New York Chancellor, Felix Matos Rodriguez, and the NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development, to announce Centerbridge’s support for the expansion of the CUNY Inclusive Economy Initiative (https://lnkd.in/e2d2qr5T). This expansion brings CUNY Futures in Finance, founded in 2021 by Centerbridge, Bloomberg and Goldman Sachs, into the CUNY Inclusive Economy Initiative to prepare more CUNY students to enter the finance sector.
