➡ Together we aim to establish #sLH2 as a common refueling standard for hydrogen-powered trucks & make the technology openly available to all interested parties via an ISO standard.

➡ Compared to gaseous #Hydrogen, subcooled #LiquidHydrogen (sLH2) allows for higher storage density, greater range, faster refueling, lower costs and superior energy efficiency.

➡ The first public sLH2 fuel station was inaugurated in Wörth am Rhein, Germany, & will also be used by selected logistics customers for initial customer trials with our Mercedes-Benz #GenH2 Truck from mid-2024.

Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 in winter service - Mercedes-Benz Trucks & Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes jointly tested our battery-electric #eActros 600 in demanding winter service at the beginning of February. ⭐🚛🔋

#Autobahn GmbH used a prototype of our #ElectricTruck on a section of the A2 highway between Hamm and Bielefeld with a semitrailer supplied by Epoke. As a preventive measure against ice, Autobahn GmbH used a brine made of water and salt as a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional road salt. The semitrailer enables the spreading of brine at a speed of 80 km/h up to a width of 12 meters.

When company Dasco Construction wanted ‘proper little trucks’ to replace less robust van-based vehicles, our FUSO #Canter stood up to the task. 🚚

The Canters are all 3.5-tonne 3C13 models, with Comfort cab and 2,500 mm wheelbases – one of six lengths available – and were fitted with aluminium tipping bodies at our Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation factory in Tramagal, Portugal. 🚚

Power comes from fuel-efficient 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines each producing 96 kW (130 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. The compact exhaust system means the vehicles also meet the EURO VI – STEP E emission standard. 🚚

Cross-industry coalition launches in the United States to accelerate zero-emission #VehicleInfrastructure deployments. 🚛🔋

Powering America’s Commercial Transportation (PACT), a coalition focused on education and advocacy for accelerating the construction of nationwide infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty #ZeroEmission vehicles (ZEVs), launched this week in the United States with the express purpose of overcoming the many barriers delaying access to ZEV infrastructure and enhancing national climate policies to address infrastructure needs of medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles.

#PACT is established by Daimler Truck North America, Navistar Inc and Volvo Group North America, who collectively represent approximately 70 percent of all new medium- & heavy-duty #Truck sales in the U.S., and are committed to ambitious #Electrification goals. ⚡

Franziska Cusumano, Head of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks and Custom Tailored Trucks, and Jörg Howe, Special Representative Communications & External Affairs at Daimler Truck, met up in -14 degrees before an #Offroad test drive at the Hartsteinwerk quarry in Kitzbühel and talked about special vehicles, special requirements and special applications. 

Franziska Cusumano has headed up the special vehicle division of Mercedes-Benz Trucks since December 2022. The #Transformation to #ZeroEmission drives is also an important concern for her. In her role, Cusumano is responsible for the development, production and sales of the Mercedes-Benz #Unimog, #Econic and #Zetros truck series in Woerth as well as the business unit for individual customer conversions in Molsheim in Alsace.

Travelling through time - a quick glance at these two cockpits points out how the interior of our #Unimog has evolved over the years: The picture above shows the interior of the Unimog 70200, which was already very impressive in the 1950s. Fast forward over 70 years - The new UNI-TOUCH system has given today's Unimog an operating system which is leaner, more flexible & fully-customisable. 

While it is characterised mainly by a new electronic architecture, hidden under the skin, the new #OperatingSystem results in a comprehensively revised centre console for the driver, which has a leaner design and can be moved sideways, forwards and back.

Improving job site safety - Western Star Trucks recently announced its latest safety features available for its vocational models, #WesternStar X-Series, 47X and 49X. 🚚🚛

Our new X-Series was developed with safety as a top priority, delivering advanced safety solutions for vocational customers without compromising on operability. Detroit Assurance with Active Brake Assist (ABA5), an automated suite of #SafetySystems, has extended its offering to vocational customers as a standard feature. Owners with #47X and #49X trucks can now benefit from the added safety regardless of powertrain. Additionally, the X-Series will now offer a factory-installed backup alert system, which includes a 7-inch integrated touchscreen display, a backup camera, and a reverse proximity sensor. The backup alert system seamlessly integrates into the cab’s design, enhancing driver comfort, productivity, and safety.
