Five Star Electric Corp. is extremely proud to have played such a pivotal role in the successful completion and opening of the iconic East Side Access and Grand Central Madison Terminal. Over a period of more than a decade, Five Star Electric has successfully completed many substantial projects for the East Side Access program totaling over $1 billion dollars in contracts. Some of these projects include CS-179, CM-005, CM-006, CM-007, CQ-032, CQ-033, CS-086 & CM-014B.

The completion of this project is a monumental accomplishment as it is known for being one of the largest infrastructure projects in United States history.  The Long Island Railroad has officially begun service at Grand Central Madison Terminal.  With the terminal now open, LIRR riders heading to the East Side of New York City could save up to 40 minutes of commuting time a day, according to the MTA.

Another year in the books!  
 
We’ve been able to achieve some major accomplishments in 2022. The successful completion of the new state of the art 1,000,000 sq foot Newark Terminal A, the running of trains at the long awaited East Side Access as well as the successful completion of our MTA Time Square Shuttle project to name a few.  
 
Additionally, we are excited about some of the newer projects starting, JFK Central Substation # 2, PATH Substation # 2 in Jersey City with a few more set to be inked in the coming months.  
 
Just taking this opportunity to thank all of our employees, clients and partners. We are thankful for your support and looking forward to a bright 2023. Happy Holidays to everyone.

Five Star Joins World Cup Fever!

Five Star Electric is excited to have had the opportunity to work on a special 2022 World Cup project. Under the direction of Landing Gear Production, Five Star provided the electrical services for a 30’ inflatable soccer ball which was displayed in Rockefeller Center. New Project Announcement - PATH – Replacement of Substation #2, Jersey City

Five Star Electric as a Subcontractor to Yonkers Contracting will be constructing a new two-story steel framed substation building that includes Switchgear, Heavy-duty Traction Power Transformers, Medium Voltage & Traction Power Cables, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System (SCADA), Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and Security/Access Controls. Also the construction of a bulkhead for tunnel emergency evacuation shaft and an underground utility connection to existing PATH tunnels and subsurface utilities. The existing Substation No. 2 was built in 1908 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It will remain in service until the new facility is completed.

New Project Announcement - Central Substation #2 at JFK International Airport.

Five Star Electric Corp. in a Joint Venture with Yonkers Contracting have been awarded by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey the “Design-Build Services for the Central Substation #2 Project at JFK International Airport.” This design-build project consists of a brand new two-story substation building at JFK Airport, which will provide power to the new Terminal 1. Five Star’s scope includes furnishing and installing 27kv Switchgear, 15kv Switchgear, medium voltage cables, LV power distribution equipment, security, lighting, fire alarm and other electrical systems.
