Introducing Amaize® Orange-red, a corn-based anthocyanin colour that has a bright orange-red shade which provides a close match to Red 40 in acidic applications.

“This is an exciting innovation for the food industry,” says Nathalie Pauleau, Global Product Manager for Givaudan Sense Colour. “Our previous Amaize® colours are a pinky-red shade that is similar to other natural anthocyanin options like black carrot and elderberry. But we developed this new shade to be more orange-red, similar in shade to red radish but without the vegetal taste and aroma. That makes it a great choice for developers who are looking for natural alternatives to red 40 with a simple label and a neutral taste, especially with the changing regulatory landscape in the US.”

Givaudan recently hosted Brazilian volleyball player and Avon ambassador, Jaqueline Carvalho, at its Kleber offices in Paris. 

Following a tour of the labs, the visit involved shining a light on the fascinating history behind two of Avon’s signature scents, bestselling amber-floral ‘Far Away’ by former perfumer and current Global Head of Fine Fragrances, Xavier Renard, as well as its modern oriental counterpart ‘Far Away Beyond the Moon’ by perfumer Hernan Figoli. 

As Givaudan Head of Marketing Fine Fragrances Europe, Bruna Bergemann notes, "It was a great pleasure to meet Jaqueline, our two-time Olympic gold medalist for Brazil, and share with her the behind-the-scenes creation of two iconic fragrances designed by Givaudan perfumers in collaboration with the renowned brand Avon, for whom she is a proud ambassador."

Based in Jakarta in Indonesia, Consumer Product Perfumer Yani Setiawati’s expertise spans Fabric, Personal and Air Care. When it comes to her creations, Yani takes inspiration from her Indonesian culture as well as interesting gardens and markets, which she seeks out on her travels. Throughout her 30-year-and-counting career, Yani has been fascinated with incorporating the needs of target consumers – including those of the unique Indonesian market – as well as the desires of customers in her fragrances, describing the feeling of personal accomplishment that accompanies a successful creation.

With summer well underway, Givaudan's teams in Paris and New York recently hosted their respective parties to celebrate the much-loved season. While Givaudan’s French sites met up for sports, escape games, dancing and dining, the NYC office gathered team-members and perfumers on a private rooftop.
