What does COMMUNITY mean in the world of ethical hacking? 

When HackerOne got going a decade ago, community meant bug hunters. Today, there also are pentesters, source code reviewers, hackers doing reconnaissance for customers, CISOs for hire, and hacker ambassadors. Many have joined to learn and to connect with likeminded. More and more, our customers are hackers too. Partners are joining. The concept is evolving and the door is open. 

Every successful community is actually a set of communities, with variety and diversity, with people performing different functions, these functions changing over time. In our mission statement, we say "empower the world" so there is still room to grow!

No company is immune to cyberattacks, but when the inevitable happens, too many companies still try to maintain a wall of silence. In fact, over half of security professionals admit their organizations maintain a culture of security through obscurity, with over one-third admitting they are completely secretive about their cybersecurity activities.
