We have been working for several years with Wildfowl & Wetland Trust on the development and maintenance of our own wetlands, home to over 14,500 plants of 20 varieties and a haven for local wildlife 🪴 This weekend, we proudly unveiled the newly revamped Glengoyne Bird Hide at the WWT’s Caerlaverock site near Dumfries. Artist Kirsty Harris has designed this serene space where you can unwind, immerse yourself in nature, and enjoy bird watching. Our Teapot Dram series tells the story of an old distillery tradition where workers were given three fingers of whisky twice a day from Monday to Thursday, and three times on a Friday. 🥃 Most distilleries offered workers new-make spirit, straight off the stills, but Glengoyne offered tumblers of whisky from first-fill sherry casks. It was common for less seasoned team members to discreetly pour their untouched drams into a copper teapot on the canteen windowsill, ready for their older colleagues to enjoy later. Here at Ian Macleod Distillers, we do like to mingle with the locals and we had the absolute pleasure of being thoroughly spoiled by the lovely folks at Ooni , who were on site at our HQ at Peter Russell House, showing us how real pizzas are made! We learned how to stretch out dough and saw, not only margherita perfection, but also some more ‘interesting’ toppings make an appearance, including banana (and you thought pineapple was bad!). Miraculously, the Scottish weather was kind to us and it created a long overdue opportunity for us to catch up in the sunshine with colleagues, share a few laughs and enjoy some fine culinary creations. It was a really lovely way to get to know our neighbours, reconnect with each other and celebrate the hard work and dedication that drives our success at Ian Macleod Distillers. A big thanks to everyone who got involved and of course, to our new friends at Ooni for creating such wonderful, interactive and educational afternoon!
