Japan Energy Fund Ventures is a venture capital firm that focuses on investing in energy transition and sustainability-focused startups. The firm aims to support innovative companies that are working towards a more sustainable and clean energy future, with a particular emphasis on the Japanese market.

Japan Energy Fund is a dedicated fund that invests in promising climate tech solutions around the world which have the potential to scale in Japan. We are the only fund from Japan that is purely focused on climate tech and investing in US/European startups. 

Our second fund, the Decarbonised Tech Fund, aims to accelerate the realisation of a decarbonised society by investing in critical enabling technologies. The Fund primarily invests in climate tech that helps decarbonise the grid (generation and demand side), electrify transport (e.g., electric vehicles and surrounding infrastructure) and capture carbon. It does so by sourcing leading overseas ventures to invest in, prioritising those that have the potential to accelerate the decarbonisation of the Japanese economy.

Their remarkable success amidst tough competition serves as solid proof of the profound impact of their climate solutions, underlined by their impressive market penetration and expansion achievements. 

The companies this year were selected from a staggering 25,435 nominations from more than 65 countries — marking a notable 61% increase from 2023's statistics. These entries were meticulously evaluated and narrowed down to a shortlist of 330 firms, which underwent scrutiny by the Cleantech Group’s Expert Panel consisting of 80 members. The final results culminate from the collective insights of several hundred experts.
