The team at Bugworks Research Inc. has been pursuing its mission to develop a novel broad-spectrum antibiotic compound, BWC0977 to treat serious infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. We congratulate the Bugworks team and welcome this investment, development and commercialization support from the world's leading organization dedicated to furthering research to combat anti-microbial resistance. Apart from accelerating the clinical development of BWC0977, Global Antibiotic R&D Partnership (GARDP) will also enable manufacturing and commercialization in a total of 148 countries, including nearly all low- and middle-income countries, allowing unprecedented global reach for BWC0977, impacting patients across the world.

Gender disparities in access to quality healthcare is a pressing problem and we are incredibly proud of the BeatO team for reaching this milestone where they have recorded a 20x growth in the number of female users over the last 5 years, cumulatively reaching over 600K lives as on date. Keeping in line with the company’s focus to democratize the access to specialist diabetes care well beyond the metro cities, 60% of this female patient base is from outside Tier 1 geographies. Notably, around ~45% of this patient population is sub 45 years of age, indicating the company’s ability to drive awareness and adoption among a younger patient population with a strong value proposition that is helping people identify and treat their diabetes early.
