On Wednesday night, we celebrated the launch of the MPG x Jackie Traverse collection at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The evening was filled with soulful performances and inspiring speeches that honoured the resilience of Indigenous women and Jackie Traverse's impactful work. MPG is honoured to partner with Jackie Traverse, an Ojibway multimedia artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, on a limited edition capsule. A survivor of the Sixties Scoop, the mass removal of Indigenous children from their families, communities, and culture, Jackie has dedicated her life to relearning and immersing herself in the ways and traditions of her people and passing those teachings onto her daughter and granddaughter. Although Jackie draws from her Indigenous roots when creating her artwork, she adopts a women-centred approach to speak to and spotlight the challenges women in the Indigenous community must confront daily. By creating artwork that examines the devastating effects and legacy of missing and murdered women and girls and the intergenerational trauma of residential schools, she encourages dialogue about and awareness of the injustices faced by First Nations people. As we continue to advocate for advancing Truth and Reconciliation efforts in Canada, we recognize the importance of supporting Indigenous artists like Jackie. By amplifying their voices, we can create awareness, learn from the past, and help pave a path forward with equity for all. Yesterday, in celebration of the 2024 Olympics, Mondetta hosted a multicultural potluck, inviting all employees to wear their traditional attire. The event featured an array of dishes from Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines, China, Africa, Argentina, and Bangladesh. Employees voted on their favorite dishes, and the top three dishes from Bangladesh swept all three Potluck-Olympic medals, winning special prizes. MPG - Mondetta Performance Gear

This week, a group of Mondetta employees donated blood at Canadian Blood Services . Since becoming one of their Partners For Life, we have proudly contributed over 25 donations and have 23 active team members. Canadian Blood Services is an independent, not-for-profit charitable organization responsible for ensuring that patients across the country have safe, reliable access to high-quality blood, plasma, stem cells, and organs and tissues. This week, a group of Mondetta employees volunteered their time at Harvest Manitoba . They spent their afternoon packing lunch kits for students, which will be distributed to schools for kids to take home ahead of the weekend. Although, the students will receive lunch at school, Harvest Manitoba provides these packages to ensure they have something to eat over the weekend. Each bag also included information on where they can pick up lunch during the summer if needed, ensuring continuous support even when school is out. Harvest Manitoba not only provides these lunch kits for students but also collects and shares 12 million pounds of healthy and nutritious food with hungry Manitobans every year. On June 21, for National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across Canada. In support of this important day, executives from Mondetta brought in Salena Starling , President and CEO of the Community of Big Hearts , to share her story and the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada with all employees. By educating, opening conversations, and listening to lived experiences, we can work toward reconciliation.
