In the early summer of 2021, I got an email from Jasper Brand . "Can you look through these two decks and let me know what you think? Should we give these guys a second look?" I popped them open and was immediately impressed by the stylized art and high-caliber team with a long-standing working relationship (deck 2). Plus, they already had the flexibility to pivot projects (deck 1)?! We ended up playtesting their bootstrapped UE4 prototype and by the end of due diligence, Malte Barth , Jasper, and I had so much conviction it was a "no-brainer". The deal was over the line after passing it through IC with the tagline "We've got a Ruckus in here!" Some investors say you should be pounding the table to get a deal done. That's how much faith you should have in the team, product, and market. I discovered it can be taken a step further. Board the ship and set sail with the crew. Don't just believe in the thesis, help make it a reality! After several months of what is best described as "risk aversion", I wrote myself a note titled "Fear is the Mind Killer" and emailed Paul Sage . In a crazy stroke of luck, the rest of the crew Carl Shedd Scott Kester Christofer Strasz Kevin Penrod Keith Schuler , and Jesse McIntyre welcomed me aboard. It has been a wild past year. I am so proud of our team and what we will do in the future. I have witnessed it takes a special village of precision engineers Tim Murray Jason Miletta Dustin Yost Dan Wellman, meticulous world designers Michael Drummond Jonathan Fawcett , the curious sound guy or gal Joshua Smith , a killer art team Dia Hadley Aaron Heuser (and Mr. Richards, LinkedIn = No), a kick-ass tech artist Noah Thompson , and an charismatic community manager Devann McCarthy (without whom we wouldn't be announcing this news) to bring a game to life.
