Being on top of your numbers, even if those are not that sexy in the early days of the business, shows a potential investor that you know what's happening in your business and that you can iterate quickly.


What are some metrics founders should know inside and out to prove they understand the business? 📊

-  How much revenue did you earn this month? Last month? The month before?
-  Which acquisition channels drove revenue?
-  What is the cost of your product (or subscription)?
-  What is your cost per acquisition, your churn, your conversion rate?
-  How many daily active users do you have? How many monthly?
-  How much have you raised to date? 
-  How much are you raising now?
-  What milestones do you expect to hit with this raise?
-  How have different customer acquisition channels performed? For example, what is the conversion rate difference between Linkedin ads and Google ads?

Feeling overwhelmed?

Almost always, investors will be more experienced than you (by a ton!). They've seen hundreds, probably thousands of founders come to them asking for funding, and can spot red flags before you know they even exist.

The second red flag you should look out for when pitching is baggage 🧳
By this, we mean anything you're dragging behind yourself and into the pitching room: messy cap tables, pending discussions with co-founders, or even massive debt.

Raising venture capital is no easy task.
Many variables need to come into play and align for a round of funding to happen. 

Many people, including us, talk a lot about what a pitch deck should have and what your financials should answer

But few talk about the deal-breakers. Those that will kill your hopes.

You know, the stuff that (ourselves included) didn't know was working against us until it was too late.

The first and most obvious sign that something isn't right with your company? The people you choose to help get it off the ground.

Our team has spent the last few months experimenting with implementing AI into what we already do at Slidebean. A few weeks ago it was our automatic pitch deck generator, but today we're launching something that works the other way around: a free tool that grabs your pitch deck, reads its content, and provides feedback for you to improve it.

I know I know, "𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘈𝘐 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘧 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵!" but here's the thing: We've trained this model using *ALL* of our resources. The scripts for all our videos, the content of all our blog posts, the feedback we've given to past clients... In a way, it contains the cumulative knowledge of over ten years of helping founders raise funds and pitch investors.

Here's a taste: We grabbed one of our newest templates, the Lunchbox pitch deck, and fed it to the AI reviewer. It's a pretty darn good pitch, but it found some points to improve.
