I get asked a lot about the origin story of Radia, Inc. , so here you go. I started Radia in 2016 to explore if there were opportunities at the intersection of aerospace and energy to reduce CO2 emissions - and also have a very profitable business. Shortly after Radia was founded, a press release came out from two wind turbine manufacturers that compete for every deal globally. They were frustrated that the energy industry knows how to make offshore-sized turbines and deploy them in places like the North Sea but can't take that knowledge to deploy them onshore where the market is an order of magnitude larger. Their release asked if an aerospace company, engineer, or entrepreneur could help them figure out how to airlift an object that weighs 45 tons and is over 100 meters in length, and land it on a piece of dirt in the middle of a wind farm. I showed up within a week and started working with them. Our massive cargo aircraft WindRunner is our solution to the problem as it can deliver offshore-sized blades onshore and enable what we call GigaWind. The Radia team is the driving force behind our success. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together towards bringing WindRunner and GigaWind online.

We wish all who celebrate a fun and safe night. The sunset here in Seattle is 5:38 p.m. Halloween is celebrated in various ways around the world, with each country adding its unique twist to the festivities. Here are some examples: United States and Canada: Halloween is celebrated with costume parties, trick-or-treating, haunted houses, and pumpkin carving. It has deep historical roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Mexico and Latin America: Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated from October 31 to November 2. Families create altars, called ofrendas, decorated with marigolds, candles, and the favorite foods of the deceased2. It's a vibrant and joyful celebration of life and death. Ireland and Scotland: Halloween traditions include bonfires, guising (a form of trick-or-treating), and traditional foods like barmbrack, a fruitcake with hidden charms. These customs are rooted in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. England: Halloween is celebrated more quietly, often overshadowed by Guy Fawkes Night on November 5. Historically, Halloween was a time to remember the dead, especially saints and martyrs. Japan: Halloween is celebrated mainly in expat communities and popular areas like Shibuya and Shinjuku in Tokyo. People dress up in costumes, often inspired by anime, and enjoy parties and events. China: The Hungry Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese festival that honors good spirits and avoids evil ones. It involves offerings and rituals to appease the spirits. We are going back to the Moon for the first time! The paradox is that while NASA has put 6 sets of boots on the ground between 1969 and 1972, the landings were nearer the lunar equator. While not like a trip to sunny southern California, the south pole of the Moon will be unlike anything humankind has attempted before. In permanently shadowed regions, astronauts could work for as long as 2 hours in temperatures that hover around -240F (-115C). The space suits being developed for NASA will have to not only operate under these extreme conditions, but also keep astronauts comfortable enough to carry out the objectives of exploration, mineral and data collection, mining, science, and terraforming. Just as humankind has established a permanent island in Low Earth Orbit through the ISS, humanity is embarking on the next great challenge of establishing a human presence around and on the Moon. Although we will pine for the balmy 60F (15C) days of the lunar equator, our next journey into space will be like starting all over again, only harder.
