There are moments when you stop and reflect, and this is one of them. Linktree was born in 2016, when Nick, Anthony and I were running a marketing agency within the Australian music scene.

We felt the pain of only being able to direct audiences' attention to one thing.

We saw that musicians were so much more than the latest single they released. They had tickets to promote, festival lineups to share, products to sell.

So we built the first prototype of Linktree in less than a day.

Peking Duk was our 9th user. 

Major Lazer and Flume were in our first 20.

And now we have billboards in Times Square celebrating some of the 85 Linkers who are Grammy nominees.

So excited to finally share we welcomed Jiaona Zhang (JZ) as our new Chief Product Officer back in October. I remember hearing JZ speak about her ‘minimum loveable products’ philosophy on a Lenny's podcast ep a few months ago (on my Linktree!) and thinking ‘wow, there’s so much we can take from this’… I shared it with Nick Humphreys right away.

JZ’s rich product expertise span the spectrum of consumer and enterprise; from website builders at Webflow to marketplaces at Airbnb and productivity tools at Dropbox. Fast forward a few months and I never would’ve guessed that we’d be lucky enough to work with and learn from JZ every day.

In other exciting news, we also welcomed Martin Gould and Johnny Hunter to the team last year to lead our machine learning, AI and personalisation efforts. Prior to that, they spent 4 years working at Spotify who acquired their next-gen audio-identification startup.

At Linktree, we have a huge opportunity to revolutionise how creators monetise by utilising our scale. We’ve been sprinting in this space to transform brand <> creator <> visitor matching and power a future where creators are properly compensated for the value they create. It’s been epic to see how quickly Martin and Johnny tackle problems in this space — again feel so lucky to learn from people with such rich insights to share.
