This article discusses the involvement of six major French banks—BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Société Générale, BPCE, Crédit Mutuel, and Banque Postale—in financing the French defense industry. Despite government assurances that no funds from the Livret A would be used for this purpose, concerns remain among the public about the indirect use of savings for defense. The article clarifies that there is no direct link between the funds in Livret A and defense financing, but some banks have contributed 37 billion euros to the sector.
