Today, we are excited to highlight Mentech, a key player in our INZET portfolio. 

Mentech, in collaboration with several healthcare institutions, developed HUME, an innovative tool that measures and visualizes stress levels using sensors and artificial intelligence. This system provides crucial insights into a client’s stress level, allowing for early intervention and the prevention of escalation. 

HUME has made a significant impact, with results showing a 46% reduction in fixations and over 5441 fewer hours of stress in 2023 alone. This not only improves the quality of life for clients but also enhances the well-being of care staff by helping them manage their own stress levels more effectively. This dual benefit leads to happier clients and staff and reduces turnover among care workers. 

HUME is already in use by many care institutions in the Netherlands and Belgium, helping to understand and manage misunderstood behaviors often caused by stress, especially in individuals with dementia or intellectual disabilities. By providing real-time data, HUME enables care workers to identify the causes of such behaviors and prevent stress-related escalations. Furthermore, HUME supports organizations by offering anonymous insights into staff stress levels, enabling better management of workplace stress and enhancing overall employee resilience.

Their impact resonates across borders, touching the lives of over 60 million individuals in 18 countries and counting. 

Last week, on World Malaria Day, they proudly celebrated a monumental breakthrough in the battle against malaria. In Cameroon, the successful integration of a new malaria vaccine into routine immunization marks a significant milestone. This achievement, highlighted in a recent BMJ paper, underscores the pivotal role of Bluesquare's innovative platform, #IASO, which is an open source geostructured data collection system developed by Bluesquare. This dynamic tool played a pivotal role in enabling real-time monitoring of vaccine rollout progress through tailor-made dashboards. Decision-makers leveraged these insights to generate monthly immunization reports, seamlessly integrating them into routine systems. 

Bluesquare's contribution represents more than just technological innovation; it's a testament to the power of collaboration and the pursuit of impactful solutions. We are excited to kick off Part 2 of the Portfolio Pulse series! In part two, we will focus on the impact our various portfolio companies are making within society. We begin with Welcome app, a recent addition to the portfolio of our SI3 Fund!  

The goal of Welcome app is to build a society in which no one is left behind. Their platform removes municipalities of burdens while empowering newcomers to take charge of their integration process. Newcomers can access Dutch contacts, up-to-date information, and local events with just one click. 
 
Welcome app is more than just an application; it serves as a lifeline for immigrants, a link between communities and cultures, and a ray of hope during difficult times. Newcomers can access all kinds of information, and even a helpdesk in one convenient location with a single click.  But it goes beyond mere practical support. They foster a community of solidarity and connectivity, where newcomers feel supported in their pursuit of a new life. It is a place where they are not just welcomed, but also encouraged to find their own place in Dutch society. Not only are they accepted there, but they are also encouraged to find their own place in Dutch society. 

The impact of the Welcome app cannot be overemphasized.  Since 2019, it has helped create over 17,190 worthwhile connections between newcomers, residents, and organizations, with over 1,000 active users per month, over 150 affiliated organizations, and partnerships with five municipalities. 

Their success extends beyond numbers alone. It is about the stories of individuals who have found a home in the Netherlands thanks to this platform. It is about communities growing stronger through the inclusion of newcomers. And it's about Welcome app's vision, where every newcomer is welcome and can feel at home.

Welcome app is an all-in-one solution for newcomers, empowering them to take control and actively engage in societal integration.

For municipalities, Welcome app offers a valuable solution, especially considering the recent implementation of the Dutch Integration Dispersal Act (Spreidingswet).

Through the platform, municipalities make integration services accessible to newcomers, thus reducing administrative burden, promoting efficiency, and enabling newcomers to immediately commence with finding their way in their new community.
