BioNTech SE, a biotechnology company, develops and commercializes immunotherapies for cancer and other infectious diseases. Further, it develops BNT321, an IgG1 monoclonal antibody in Phase II clinical trial for pancreatic cancer; BNT411, a small molecule immunomodulator product candidate for solid tumors; prophylactic vaccine for COVID-19 and Influenza; and infectious disease immunotherapies and rare disease protein replacement therapies. The company has collaborations with Genentech, Inc.; Sanofi S.A.; Genmab A/S; Pfizer Inc.; Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd.; and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. After more than a decade of serving as Board Member in different roles, Sean Marett will retire this year as planned. A new CCO will be announced by the end of March 2024. His responsibilities as CBO are being gradually transferred to James Ryan, Ph.D., Chief Legal Officer who will also take on the role as BioNTech’s CBO at the end of the transition phase and upon Sean Marett’s retirement. As of July 1, 2024, Sean Marett will continue as a specialist advisor at least until the end of the year.     
 
👏 Sean's contributions to BioNTech's business development, fund-raising, and commercial activities have been crucial to our transformation into a next-generation immunotherapy company. Here are just a few of his accomplishments:  
 
● Various financing activities to ensure liquidity of over $1 billion, the largest Series A financing round for a biotech company at that stage worldwide. The activities were especially important for us in the first decade when we were a private company with pre-clinical programs.  
 
● Revenue-generating research and development agreements which Sean and his teams negotiated with high-profile pharmaceutical companies.  
 
● Complex global licensing and M&A transactions and strategic partnerships Sean and his teams reached with multiple governments, academic institutions, and charitable foundations.   

● Several supply agreements for our first product with governments.  
 
● The commercialization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine in Germany and Türkiye.  
 
Without Sean's determination, drive, and experience in aligning all stakeholders towards a common goal, BioNTech would not be the innovative company it is today. We're excited to see what the future holds with our new CCO, who will be announced by the end of March 2024.

Since joining BioNTech in 2015, Oliver has worked on building and expanding our manufacturing and supply chain network to ensure our #therapy candidates and #vaccines reach those who need them most. During Project Lightspeed in 2020 and 2021, he was involved in building our commercial-scale manufacturing capabilities, which enabled us to successfully produce COVID-19 vaccine doses for worldwide distribution. Together with his teams, he is currently preparing commercial-scale manufacturing for potential future cancer therapies.

We just reached another landmark in our oncology pipeline of innovative precision medicine candidates: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Fast Track designation for our antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) candidate BNT325/DB-1305 for the treatment of patients with advanced ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. BNT325 is the second asset in our strategic collaboration with Duality Biologics which has received FDA Fast Track designation, highlighting the potential of the candidate to fill an unmet medical need. 

𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝
Ovarian cancer is the fourth most common gynecological tumor type, with over 300,000 cases diagnosed globally each year. Epithelial #OvarianCancer — the most common ovarian cancer — develops in tissue surrounding the ovaries. It includes fallopian tube cancer and primary peritoneal cancer. Ovarian epithelial #cancer is often diagnosed at advanced disease stages, leading to a poor prognosis for patients and making it one of the most frequent causes of cancer death in women.[1] 

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞
BNT325 is a next-generation ADC candidate targeting the trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (TROP2), a protein which is overexpressed on a range of tumor types and linked to aggressive tumor growth and progression.[2] BNT325 is designed with the aim to combine a TROP2-trageted antibody with the cell-killing properties of an anti-cancer drug (chemo).
