It serves transportation, personal care, wellness, food, feed, agriculture, building and construction, water treatment, energy, consumables, durables, and electronics markets. Its Advanced Materials segment provides copolyesters, cellulosic biopolymers, cellulose esters, polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sheets, and window and protective films, and aftermarket applied film products for value-added end uses in the transportation, durables, electronics, building and construction, medical and pharma, and consumables markets. The company's Chemical Intermediates segment offers methylamines and salts higher amines and solvents; Olefin and acetyl derivatives, ethylene, and commodity solvents; and primary non-phthalate and phthalate plasticizers, and niche non- phthalate plasticizers to the industrial chemicals and processing, building and construction, health and wellness, and agrochemicals. Its Fibers segment provides cellulose acetate tow, triacetin, cellulose acetate flake, acetic acid, and acetic anhydride for use in filtration media primarily cigarette filters; natural and solution dyed acetate yarns for use in consumables, and health and wellness markets; and wet-laid nonwoven media, specialty and engineered papers, and cellulose acetate fibers for transportation, industrial, agriculture and mining, and aerospace markets. The European Commission's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is at a critical stage, aiming to establish healthy recycled content and recycling rate requirements for the EU. This could position Europe as a global leader in the transition to a circular economy. However, there's a crucial detail that could make or break this ambition: The PPWR must prevent waste from third-party countries from counting toward EU recycling targets. If not, it would reduce the incentive to collect and recycle more in Europe, jeopardizing the environmental goals of the EU Green Deal. The cost to recycle in Europe is already higher, and without further investment, the EU will struggle to achieve its recycling rates.

The European plastics recycling industry is calling on lawmakers to ensure that only post-consumer plastic waste from the EU counts towards recycled content targets. This would create a strong supply and demand market, driving investments in the EU's recycling infrastructure. A healthy recycling value chain in the EU is essential for achieving plastics sustainability, circularity, and climate neutrality. Let's make sure the policies adopted by EU lawmakers support this vision!

Celebrating Aviation History: It was 60 years ago, in February 1964, when the Boeing 727 began its commercial service. This state-of-the-art aircraft required a modern hydraulic fluid, and that's where Skydrol 500A came into play. 

Originally developed by Monsanto, Skydrol 500A became part of Eastman's product portfolio after the acquisition of Solutia in 2012. Although it is no longer in production, Skydrol 500A serves as a reminder of the evolution in hydraulic fluids and Eastman Aviation Solutions' unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in aviation fluids.
