The company was formerly known as Square, Inc. and changed its name to Block, Inc. in December 2021. Block, Inc. was incorporated in 2009 and is based in San Francisco, California.

Nicole Felix-Borders is the cofounder (along with her husband) of Pound Bizness LLC, a Bay Area–based small business that sells pound cakes. Nicole started her business by selling a handful of cakes at a church fundraiser, and now Pound Bizness is a vendor in Uptown Market on the ground floor of our Oakland office.
