The Adaptation Fund is a multilateral organization that finances climate adaptation and resilience projects in developing countries vulnerable to climate change.

It also pioneered Direct Access, empowering countries to access funding and develop projects directly through accredited national implementing entities.

NEWS RELEASE: At its 43rd meeting in Bonn, Germany, the #AdaptationFund Board enhanced access to #climatefinance for the most vulnerable by advancing implementation of its #LocallyLedAdaptation aggregator program to channel AF funding directly to a broad range of local actors, from CSOs to indigenous peoples organizations, cities, local governments, community groups, entrepreneurs and others. In other decisions, the Board reaccredited multilateral implementing partners UNDP and IDB to identify, develop and implement new Fund project proposals, and approved several new projects on the ground -- including a first-time AF-funded climate change project in #Azerbaijan . As urban areas in Southeastern Africa grow rapidly, they face escalating climate challenges like cyclones and floods. The 'Building Urban Climate Resilience' project, funded by the Adaptation Fund and led by UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) with Oxfam , is empowering communities in Morondava, Zomba, Chokwe, and Moroni through nature-based solutions, early warning systems, and participatory planning. https://bit.ly/4eXZSeC
